Harley-Davidson
Electronic Fuel Injection Project

Maximum Air Delivery (MAD) is required in order to create a high performance engine. Race bike, big inch custom or a street fighter, it is important that you get MAD for serious horsepower. We have taken 10 years of MAD technology used in some of the best marine race engines in the world and applied them to the V-Twin world of Harley-Davidson.

With a massive throttle plate measuring 2.750" by 2.125", the intake manifold and ECU used with this EFI is capable of supporting in excess of 200 horsepower in a normally aspirated engine. Power limits for turbocharged or supercharged engines are limited only by engine building skills. Poor throttle response on big cam'ed engines become a thing of the past with EFI.  Whether you running an 80CID street-fighter, a 131CID custom cruiser or a 160CID race bike, your horsepower will be limited by capabilities of the engine components not the ECU or intake manifold. Click here to view the installation manual for this EFI. For more information on the MAD V2 EFI project contact us at mad-efi@nightrider.com

MAD EFI Performance Update

Nightrider's 1994 FXDL equipped with a MAD EFI set an ECTA Land Speed Record of 131.965 MPH in the MPS/PG 2000 class on October 27, 2001. The record was set on a street bike equipped with un-ported EVO heads, SE-57 cam, SuperTrapp 2-1 exhaust and Axtell 3 13/16" cylinders.

Below are pictures of the new MAD EFI unit for HD V-Twin engines.  The EFI unit has undergone extensive testing on a 97CID EVO engine. Continuous testing ensures that this EFI meets current and future performance needs for your V-twin engine. The MAD V2 EFI is now available for serious performance bikes.

MAD-EFI can also provide the EFI ECU, manifold and other individual components for race bikes or other custom build applications.

Systems Features:

bulletRace proven ECU that has been used in automotive and marine environments for many years.
bulletCustom design,  maximum air delivery intake manifold based on race proven technology.
bulletWorks with your existing ignition system. The ECU is triggered by the ignition pulse to the front cylinder. Single fire ignition is required.
bulletECU will handle gasoline and methanol fuels with no changes to the the electronic unit.
bullet All programming is done through the LCD programmer. Simple trackside setup and adjustments. No PC is required to program the ECU.
bulletECU will control two or four injectors, allowing fine control over fuel mixtures in high horsepower situations.

Systems Include:

bulletHarley-Davidson EVO and Twin Cam style intake manifolds with 2.750" x 2.125" inch throttle plate. The intake manifold can be machined to width for use on longer cylinders.

bulletAir temp sensor
bulletCHT sensor
bulletMain wiring harness
bulletInjector harness
bulletFuel Mixture trim control, +/ - 50%
bulletComprehensive Installation and User Manual (Available online)
bulletMAP sensors (1,2 or 3 Bar). 1 Bar is used for normally aspirated engines. 2 or 3 Bar units are used with forced induction engines.

EFI Manifold Installed on 94 FXDL

The system is show above installed on a 1994 FXDL with a 97 cubic inch engine. The large throttle plate is quite obvious in this picture.

The MAD-EFI has a large air cleaner that does not limit power. The fuel rail and pressure regulator can be seen just below the air cleaner.
