  • Oversight of systems management, system networking, system clustering, capacity planning and performance analysis of multiple large-scale RDBMS systems performing transaction processing, business support, data warehousing and business intelligence in support of core business activities
  • Disaster recovery and contingency planning using conventional DR sites, clustered systems, etc.

Strategic Planning and Forecasting, Product Management

  • Ability to establish long range product forecasting and information management budgets for large scale operations ($20M+) based on product\industry trends

Hardware Environments

  • SUN (E10000, E6500, V880, E450), Tandem Himalaya (S74000, K20000), Intel/Microsoft (Servers, Workstations), HP 9000, IBM RS6000, SGI (Origin, Challenge), IBM Mainframe

Software and Development Environments

  • RDBMS (Oracle, NS-SQL, Informix, SQL Server), C, C++, Java, COBOL, Fortran, Assembly

Major Projects:

  • Create an integrated corporate data repository to automate and streamline all phases of the business cycle from sales forecasting to product delivery including design, manufacturing, inventory, accounting and data mining. Project Manager.
  • Development of a computer aided software engineering tool to automate routine entry, maintenance and reporting of database tables. Project Manager.
  • Migrate a major telecommunications application into a new data center without disruption to the customer base. Project Manager.
  • Design and implement the first OLTP based cellular phone industry application in support of seamless roaming between carriers. Project Manager for hardware design/implementation and 3rd party software implementation. Team member for application software design and implementation.
  • Design and implement customer support services system to interactively provide detailed analysis of customer activity and aggregate workloads on network processing elements that were involved in processing customer transactions. Project Manager for hardware design/implementation and 3rd party software implementation. Team member for application software design and implementation.
  • Redefine hardware and database requirements for high volume fraud detection application to keep up with inbound transaction volumes and high processing loads. Project Manager.
  • Identify target applications from exiting product lines and define common software design and implementation criteria to allow the re-use of a significant SUN hardware platform. Significant cost savings were recognized by integrating applications onto a common platform. Project Manager for feasibility and common criteria analysis.
  • Migrate a major pre-paid wireless application processing environment from an IBM RS-6000 environment to a clustered high-availability SUN environment. Project Manager for hardware design/implementation and 3rd party software Implementation. Team member for application software port and implementation.
  • Consolidate over 20 small, independent UNIX systems used in development and testing into 6 large systems divided between development and testing efforts. Hardware and software depreciation and maintenance costs in the larger, more robust environment were lower than with the small systems. The consolidation effort also allowed the use of a common set of tools and development methodologies to be used resulting in lower application development and maintenance costs. Project Manager for hardware design/implementation.
  • Arranged for a major computer vendor to provide over $2M of hardware at zero cost to the company while migration plans were created and implemented to upgrade a major applications middleware, operating system and hardware platform. A major upgrade of application capabilities was incorporated into the upgrade project, including zero downtime application failover to a remote site. Project Manager for hardware/network design/implementation and 3rd party software implementation. Team member for application software design and implementation.
  • Upgrade hardware and application software design to provide single-system-image across 3 processing nodes for a high volume OLTP application. Application volumes were growing at 20% per year which required the implementation of a more flexible hardware and software architecture to allow sustained growth. Project Manager for hardware/network design/implementation and 3rd party software implementation. Team member for application software design and implementation.
  • Provide design and implementation criteria for a major consolidation of WEB based and other multi-tiered applications. The scope of the recommendations incorporated the update of existing applications to common development methodologies, standard middleware products, a single RDBMS standard, common hardware platform standards based on the operational tier, a common network and security infrastructure, storage area networking standards and common business continuity standards. Project Manager for hardware/network design/implementation and 3rd party software implementation. Team member for application software design and implementation.
