THE Y2K BU FEATURE BOXERS
(THE DOGS WHOSE OWNERS SAID YES! TO HEALTH-TESTING)
Virginia Zurflieh, editor

Pat and I are very proud to feature in ourY2K issue the first dogs to take their place in the new "Free Ads for Health-tested Boxers" section of BU. Our free ad offer works like this: in order to qualify, your boxer must be OFA (or PennHip) certified clear of hip dysplasia; be clear of SAS; have normal thyroid function; and you must publish the results of a yearly Holter monitor test (24-hour EKG). Because no definitive standards, or guidelines, have been set for Holter results yet, we have not set any maximum number of VPCs (ventricular premature contractions) that your dog may have to qualify for an ad. We require only that you publish his/her annual Holter results. Your ad will run for a full year and will be renewed each year with proof of a new Holter and thyroid test.

Editorial

There are a couple of exceptions to the requirements above: 1. Boxers that were bred and are owned in countries outside of North America where Holter testing may not be readily available, need not provide Holter results; and 2. Boxers eight (8) years and older may have less than normal thyroid function, as long as they meet all the other criteria.

As active breeders and exhibitors who face the same health problems and tough decisions in our own breeding programs that every other Boxer breeder in the world faces, Pat and I are offering these free ads as an incentive to health testing, in which we strongly believe. Although we have made every effort to verify the accuracy of the health information submitted to us, BU DOES NOT, and CANNOT, guarantee the health status of the Boxers advertised on our pages.

Please join us with YOUR health-tested Boxer in the next issue!
